When I say "true music fan", I simply mean that listening to top 40 radio and keeping up with the latest hits is not a good way to experience good music.
Not every music artist with a record contract is a corporate sell-out, but if you listen to independant music, you can be sure that you will hear honesty and integrity.
Sure, there are some garage bands whose primary goal is to sign a deal and get lots of cash, but the majority of the demo culture is music for the sake of music.
It may not be the most professional, or cleanly produced, but it's real.
So, if you choose to limit yourself to current top 40 hits, I feel sorry for you, but I won't jump up and down calling you a closed-minded turd. After all, even I can admit that there's an incredible appeal to a lot of that music. However, I really do think you'd be well off to get into this side of the music world, too.
